The Costa Rica Mission
Help!ComeHome! has supported a humanitarian mission in Costa Rica nearly every year for the past ten years.
For nearly three decades…
Pastor Scott Shelton and his wife Gail have spearheaded a service mission in Costa Rica through the Florida-based Apopka Ministries. Help!ComeHome! was honored to join their work in 2016.
Scott has organized a team of local builders and contractors who work alongside volunteers to build churches, upgrade homes, run a children’s vacation Bible School, and provide local families with badly needed essentials for their homes.
Gail has taught sewing and crochet classes to the local women every year, helping them develop skills to make and sell their wares in local markets.
Help!ComeHome! volunteers have pitched in wherever help is needed, venturing out into the poorest local neighborhoods to expand these efforts, gather more information, and find out first-hand what families need most.
Continuing the legacy of service in Jesus’s Name…
We have developed our own food basket and relief initiative, where we meet with local families each year to find out what they need most. The needs change from season to season. Sometimes it’s car repairs, sometimes it’s school supplies, sometimes it’s baby formula, sometimes it’s home upgrades or transportation assistance. Our volunteers are ready to act and help wherever and wherever needed.
